Repair & Recycle

RECRUITING MEMBERS & VOLUNTEERS NOW!

Repair & Recycle is a group of volunteers who work together to repair, recycle, sell and donate musical equipment and instruments to those in need. We aim to reduce carbon emissions by diverting items destined for landfill, whilst providing social opportunities to reduce social isolation and improve mental health and wellbeing.

We are recruiting people to join the group who meet regularly to help to repair, recycle and sell second-hand musical equipment, instruments, vinyl and CDs.

No specialist knowledge or skills are required – we will provide the tools and equipment and volunteer fixers will teach everyone new skills.

Member requirements:
o Currently unemployed or in part time work
o Previously had a mental health issue, or are currently in recovery
o Sessions are free and run twice a week in Holbeck

For more information about our groups please contact Joe on [email protected] or call Cloth Cat on 0113 244 2773.

By attending this project you will:
o Learn some new skills and re-activate skills you had forgotten about
o Join a new group and meet new people
o Help to improve the planet by diverting items from landfill and reducing carbon emissions
o Find a new sense of purpose
o Have a say in how the project is run

Volunteer Fixers Required
We are seeking volunteers who have a passion for repairing things and can attend at least one or two sessions and support our members to learn something new about fixing electrical equipment or instruments. No long-term commitment required – please join in and share your knowledge.

To make this happen Cloth Cat has received funding from the People’s Health Lottery, Leeds Community Foundation Jimbo’s Fund and a contribution from West Yorkshire Masons, to develop and deliver this new project for the next two years.
